Why must i live?

Dreaded and weary where my thoughts,
I and myself, were the ones who fought.
Whats the purpose of living, is what I think,
Can you change fate my friend and re-write it with ink.

They say, life is a long road, and one must move,
Tired of walking for so long, I now wana hide in a cove.
For long I was walking in the same path searching for my booties,
Before I know, I will be eaten by my cooties.

They say, what ever happens - happens cos of our fate,
The more I think about this, the more I hate.
Without any ambition, I simply run this rat race,
Thinking I will get something, but that wasn't the case.

Why must i live, its a question I ask myself everyday,
Wouldn't it be better if I just pass away.
My fate will take me nowhere, yet I walk the same path again,
I am just crying out loud, no one to listen to my inner pain.

Why must i live, its a question I ask myself everyday,
Wouldn't it be better if I just pass away.....

Untitled

In a place where the sun don't shine,
I'll be your and you be mine.

Let's hold each others hand,
And spin the magic wand.

In this darkness even if we cannot see,
Let's enjoy and go on a spree.

Before the sun rises and we depart,
Let us spend the night sitting on a thwart.

The weather is warm and the lake so calm,
No evil exists which can cause us harm.

In some time the sun will rise,
Leaving you will not be wise.

I pray to God, 'let me continue this dream',
But the sun's ray hit me like a beam.

How can i lead a better life,
I feel life stabs me with a knife.

Ok friends I need to go and work,
Now I will see home after dusk.

Lonely Nights

Subtle and scary were those nights,
Life wasn't simple, one must fight.
Sleepless, I keep staring at the ceiling,
The pain I went thought, was not healing.

I see my life going up in flames,
I am no hero, am not Bond James.
Dejected in life, I try to seek light,
Subtle and scary were those nights.

At the stroke of midnight, when every one was sound sleep,
I sit up in bed, trying hard not to weep.
I still wonder, if this is the life I wanted to lead,
For mere money, I lost my entire creed.

Mind has no rest; it’s always deluded with thought,
Where are my friends, no ones near by, who are my friend? I guess I forgot.
I keep wondering, if I can do anything right,
Subtle and scary were those nights.

Mahatma – Gen Next Icon??

Mahatma – (Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi) has suddenly been put back into limelight! The Father of the Nation is once again taking center stage in popular culture; all thanks to the media!! Soon after the release of the movie ‘Lage Raho MunnaBhai’, Ghandism was rejuvenated. The icon of India’s independence has now moved beyond road signs and is now become modern and digital. Gandhi is now seen in advertisements and promos these days. Recently I read that the youngsters believe Gandhi is ‘cool and trendy’. Well what’s so cool about him? Its been almost 60yr since India became independent. Well where was Gandhi all these years? How come he became an icon again? Well I guess this is the best way to promote our old hero’s who are all lost in the history books. I don’t remember, remembering our heros’ who fought for our independence after passing the history exams :). Well what can I say, ‘Lage Raho Gandhi’ji…..’

How much can we depend on our police force or the authorities? Sneak preview from the Mumbai Blast

It was 7 PM yesterday. I had just reached home. I was very tired and just to relax myself I sat on the sofa and switched on the television. “7 Blasts in Mumbai” – news flashed everywhere. My eyes popped out. Video cam’s of the news paper reporters zoomed into the scenes. The bomb was planted inside a First Class compartment of the local train. The magnitude of the blast was huge. The boggy was completely ruined. River of blood was seen everywhere. People who were traveling in this train were thrown out. As that moment the number of causalities was not identified. People were in a panic state. Soon after the blast, passengers from the other boggy came out to see what had happened. In sometime people from the near by area also came there. They had called the police and also informed the railway authorities regarding the same. The people there were complaining that in spite of them informing the authorities and the police, no one turned up. They had to pick up the injured passengers and take them to a near by hospital. The sad part is no police/railway authority had turned up. After an hour, 2 police turned up. It’s also a shame that no new paper had covered or criticized this fact, regarding no help from the police and railway authorities. Before the close of day, 172 causalities were identified.

I hope the police force and the authorities in charge do become alert and hopefully be present there where they are needed the most.

Sacking of AIIMS Director.....

Is “Sacking” the right term? The director of All India Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr P. Venugopal was sacked by the government yesterday (5th July 2006) on charge of violating the code of conduct. Dr P. Venugopal was the first doctor in India to conduct heart transplantation. Patients, who were benefited by him, still sing praises. Do you think such a person will violate the code of conduct? The root cause of this obnoxious act is the OBC quota controversy. The recent Anti Quota stir which shook the entire nation was also supported by Dr P. Venugopal. Due to this the Health Minister was gunning for him. India is a democratic country where people have the right to express their thoughts. Dr P. Venugopal, had only expressed his thoughts. The act of ‘sacking’ was definitely the wrong thing to do. This hideous act of sacking by the Health Minister has shaken the entire nation. This act strongly propagates the feeling of insecurity amount the AIIMS doctors and students.
The act of sacking has created mayhem at AIIMS. Patients were left unattended. This caused the death of a 35 year old heart patient who was denied medical attention. Turmoil was created at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences. Doctors have begun a ‘fast till death’ to protest this act.

I strongly belive what Dr P. Venugopal has done is correct. We as an individual have the right to express our selves! India is a democratic country. Hopefully the Health Minister takes back all the charges filed against Dr P. Venugopal and also give him the post of Director back.

Reservation: is it caste over merit?

Before I blog about this, let me quote what Arjun Singh said when interviewed by Karan Thapar (CNN IBN- Devil’s advocate):

I wouldn't like to say much more on this because these are decisions that are taken not by individuals alone. And in this case, the entire Parliament of this country - almost with rare unanimity - has decided to take this decision.

Has parliament taken the right step? Is reservation really going to help? According to a survey, approximately 28%-32% of the Indian population consists of the OBC’s. But how ever no concrete figure exists. Mandal puts in 52%, National Sample Survey Organization puts in a 32% and National Family and Health Survey puts in 29.8%. We still do not know the correct figure. Most research show that 23.5% of the seats are allocated for the OBS’s. However, out of these only 50% are filled and the rest go unallocated. And among the OBS candidates who are allocated, 25% of them find it hard to complete and earn their degree in 6 years. This means some able student has lost his way to become either an engineer or a doctor. The question that now arise is: Will increasing the OBC seats do any good? By providing reservation, the government is actually giving a lesser qualified candidate more preference over a more qualified candidate the sole reason being that he/she is an OBC. Now the second question is: Is this the fault of the upper caste? And he/she is being penalized for being an upper caste?

Jawaharlal Nehru, on the 27th of June 1961, wrote this to the Chief Minister:

I dislike any kind of reservations. If we go in for any kind of reservations on communal and caste basis, we will swamp the bright and able people and remain second-rate or third-rate. The moment we encourage the second-rate, we are lost. This way lies not only folly, but also disaster.

This is very true. We want our county to progress. The only way to do this is produce able people, i.e. remove reservation.

So close, yet So Far.....

This incident had happening two weeks back. An incident which I can never forget. I was riding on the roads of Chennai. I was in a bike with a friend of mine. We were speeding @ 50Km/hr. It was dark, and the vehicles coming from the opposite direction with full beam, made our vision week. My friend tried to steer the bike through the heavy traffic. As we were heading towards our destination, unfortunately, our bike steered into a pot hole which was present in the middle of the road. The bike decelerated from a 50Km/hr+ to 0Km/hr.....Everything that had to happen, happened in a few seconds. The next thing I remember was, I was lying in the middle of the road. I couldn’t think of anything. The first thing I did, with reflex, was to turn back and see if any vehicle was coming. I immediately got up from the bike. My shoe got stuck. I managed to get up and then moved to the side. My friend had got up too and was bringing the bike to the side. My cargo was all torn. Blood from my leg had covered a major portion of my cargos. I immediately rushed to a hospital (Malar) to get my wound dressed. I was admitted in the causality ward for an hour.

I had nightmares the entire night. The entire incident still plays like a recorded video when I close my eyes. I was so close to death, but yet so far.........

Success without Failure?

Ever heard of getting success without failure? ‘Failure is the stepping stone for success’. Without failure we cannot become successful. Every successful person had to face many failures in their life. At times we go through the same failure more than once. But never must we get depressed by this. It’s life’s way of teaching. Every lesson learnt is priceless. And we must make an effort to learn from them. In this process we will learn what is not to be done. Let me give you an example: Thomas Edison, the inventor of light bulb, went through a series of failure before he actually invented the light bulb. No one becomes successful over a night. It takes a series of failure. Face them, and one day you will kiss success.

More with Less

Now how is that possible???? Heard of 80/20 principle? Knowingly or unknowingly our life seems to revolve around this 80/20 principle. Every thing that we do in our life is based up on the 80/20 principle. What does the 80/20 principle mean? It states that 80% of our success is due to 20% of our efforts! Which means More with Less.

According to 80/20 Principle, by giving minimum input we can achieve maximum output. From all the things that we do in our day to day life, only a few are really important. If we follow the 80/20 principle and concentrate and devote our time to only those few important ones, we can get maximum output or happiness. According to the 80/20 principle the few good thing in our life constitute the 20% and the happiness that we get out of this is 80%.

So if you want maximum happiness, follow the 80/20 way.

Hutch Cup 2006

No Sachin. No Shewag. Yet India drove toward victory!!! All credit goes to Yuvi and Dhoni. Yuvraj and Dhoni leads India to emphatic victory. A match not to be missed. At a point when the run rate crippled up to 8.5+, when the situation seems dicey, our duos Yuvraj and Dhoni blazed away. The awesome twosome were on fire! Dhoni made India winning look so simple. His power 6’s were simply amazing!
Beating Pakistan, India moves into the top 3 best team in the world. Team India looks all geared up. Dependency on one batsman is now no more. On the contrary, it’s difficult to decide on whom to leave out! If such enthusiasm and zeal is carried forward India has a very good chance of winning the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 @ West Indies.

Rock, It's all about...

IIT Madras, Saarang, the place to be! 29th Jan 2005 was the Rock Show event at IIT Madras! An event which is not to be missed! Featuring this were Led- Zepplica and Parikrama!
We reached IIT’s OAT at around 1800 hrs. There was a huge queue waiting outside to enter the OAT. The entire atmosphere was lively! It took nearly an hour to enter the OAT. Rock fanatics from allover Chennai were present to witness this amazing event! The show started at around 1915 hrs. The ambience was simply awesome, ‘see it to believe it’ I cannot express it here.
The show started and all the rockers were off their feet’s! Nitin Malik mesmerized us with his ‘But it Rained’! Led Zeplica followed them. They played numbers from Led Zeplin’s album...
But over all it ROKED! Saarang was yet again a success.

Are we ever happy?

In sooth, I know not why I am so sad:
It wearies me; you say it wearies you;
But how I caught it, found it, or came by it,
What stuff 'tis made of, whereof it is born, I am to learn;
And such a want-wit sadness makes of me,
That I have much ado to know myself.
          - William Shakespear, Merchant of Venice.

Are we ever happy? Have we ever tried to enjoy our current situation? Does our mind keep wandering away or keep thinking something else? Do we keep getting tensed with our future?
It’s so difficult to understand the human mind. Always unstable, always wandering away. We do not seem to be satisfied with what ever we have. Something keeps worrying us all the time. It’s like while at school, we were so eager to get out of there and go to college. One fine day you finish high school and now you are in college. Just when you are all set to enjoy college life, you find things just do not go your way. Life is tough here too. Then you realize school life was much better. Since you cannot go back to school, you look for other possibilities. The other possibility is getting a job. So we keep thinking college life is bad, getting a job will be the best thing. We will earn our own bread! But once you are out of college and get a job, you realize what you have lost!

What has happened cannot be changed. Time that once went past, cannot be got back.
Just enjoy the current moment and be happy.

I am Blogged

Atlast, I am blogged :).
